Amrut, Single Malt Indian Whisky, 2019 Winback Made in the heart ofAmrut proved that single malt didn't have to come from Scotland. It's distilled in Bangalore from Indian six row barley grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, then matured in a tropical climate that does in a few years what a Scottish warehouse takes a decade to do. The angel's share runs somewhere around 11 to 12 percent a year, against roughly 2 percent in Scotland, which means fast, intense extraction from the cask and a whisky that punches well
